 Despite constant improvements in healthcare provision in mental health, one area continues to provide difficulty, and that is the safe and professional transfer of patients from one facility to another. Traditionally, the ambulance and police services have been utilized at great expense, with inappropriate staffing and use of emergency service resources. Patients detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 have been carried in traumatic and stigmatizing ways with little or no regard for their human right of access to appropriate treatment, or the risks presented.

 From analysis of these problems and after extensive market research, Rapid & Secure was born with the intention of providing a nurse led comprehensive, professional and efficient service for the movement of medical patients with antisocial behaviour and mental health patients, accessible to both public and private sectors. The service offered has been developed after consultation with the Home Office Mental Health Unit and Mental Health Services around the country. That said, each patient, journey and customer is dealt with on an individual basis, with provision adjusted and planned to meet specific requirements. This also adheres to medical patients who are subject to the hospitals zero tolerance policy.
